This home is one of just eight contemporary sectional-title residences, thoughtfully arranged around two sunny courtyards. Designed to maximise both space and privacy, the interiors offer an effortless flow for entertaining — from the generous living area and open-plan kitchen with its large central island, through to the veranda and small private garden.

Upstairs, the expansive master bedroom enjoys mountain views, while the two additional en-suite bedrooms overlook a serene, sun-dappled courtyard. Downstairs features warm wooden flooring throughout, a guest cloakroom, and direct access to a double garage.

Additional highlights include a covered patio and timber deck, air-conditioning in the master bedroom and family room, under floor heating in the master bedroom and two guest parking bays. First-class finishes are complemented by energy-saving features such as LED downlighters, roof insulation, and heat-pump hot water cylinders, as well as water-wise fittings including dual-flush cisterns, water-saving shower roses, and aerated taps.

Security is a priority in this gated community, with electric fencing, a single controlled access point, and a safe, neighbourly environment — ideal for young couples, families, and retirees alike.

The suburb of Tokai, named after Hungary’s Tokaj hills famed for their wines, was once a wine farm, and its original Cape Dutch homestead is still preserved.

Today, Tokai is known for its leafy, tree-lined streets and tranquil suburban atmosphere, set against a backdrop of mountain views. Tokai Forest, planted as far back as 1694, along with Silvermine Nature Reserve, offers superb hiking and mountain biking.

Prestigious wine estates such as Constantia Uitsig, Buitenverwachting, and Steenberg — the latter home to an exclusive championship golf course — are close by, as are excellent restaurants and shopping destinations.

Top schools, including Reddam Constantia and the American International School, are just minutes away, making this a home that offers not only exceptional comfort and security, but also an enviable lifestyle in one of Cape Town’s most sought-after suburbs.

Tokai, Cape Town

Named after Tokai, a range of hills in Hungary, Tokai, was another property belonging to van der Stel, on which a typical Cape Dutch homestead was built, which still stands today. The Manor house, allegedly haunted, built in 1796 by Thibault,  has significance in that it has many fine features notwithstanding the curved steps leading up to the house. After a succession of owners the property was purchased by the government in 1883, to house the forestry chief. Parts of the property was used as a reformatory and convict station, the house and out buildings which by now had become a Heritage site fell into disrepair and was in danger of being lost, due to neglect by the owners.
