Some homes impress with a long list of features. This one impressed us with something much simpler – space.
From the moment we walked in, the proportions felt generous. The main living area is open, bright and relaxed, bringing together the lounge, dining area and a particularly impressive modern kitchen. There is plenty of workspace and storage, while the separate scullery keeps the practical side of everyday living neatly out of sight.
American-style shutters add character and a distinctive finishing touch throughout the home. Double glazing along the southern side is another thoughtful and practical feature, particularly welcome considering the planned future upgrades to the R43.
The downstairs lounge has a gas fireplace, while sliding doors open onto the patio, creating an easy connection between indoor and outdoor living. Add the indoor braai and you have a home well suited to entertaining throughout the seasons.

The three bedrooms continue the sense of space. Two generously sized bedrooms share a well-appointed bathroom, while the large, north-facing main bedroom has its own en-suite and feels wonderfully private. There is also a useful study nook for those wanting a dedicated place to work from home.
What we particularly like is that almost all of the home is on one level. It makes for comfortable, uncomplicated living and gives the property broad appeal across different stages of life.
Then you head upstairs, and the home reveals something quite special.
A spacious second lounge provides an entirely different place to relax, with splendid views across Walker Bay. It's easy to imagine spending time here with a morning coffee or simply sitting back and watching the changing ocean outlook.
The home is situated within the gated Negester North Estate, where controlled access adds a reassuring sense of security and privacy. It is an environment that lends itself equally well to permanent living or the convenience of a secure lock-up-and-leave coastal home.
The location in upmarket Chanteclair is another advantage. Shopping and everyday amenities are close at hand, while the popular swimming beach of Onrus is only a short drive away.
And then, of course, there is Hermanus itself – coastal paths, excellent restaurants and coffee shops, golf, wine estates, whale watching and the magnificent natural surroundings of the Overberg are all part of the lifestyle.
For us, it is the combination that makes this home stand out – modern living, generous proportions, a great kitchen, excellent security and, upstairs, that wonderful Walker Bay outlook.
